Apr 06, 2026 - FASSelangor FC secured a dramatic late equaliser in the first leg of the Malaysia Cup semi-final at MBPJ Stadium last night, earning a 1-1 draw against Kuching City FC.
The visitors took the lead just before half-time when Ngah Razif converted a penalty in the 42nd minute, giving Kuching City the advantage heading into the break.
The Red Giants responded with greater intensity in the second half, pushing forward in search of an equaliser. Their persistence paid off in the closing moments of the match, as Chrigor Moraes finished off a superb assist from Syahir Bashah in the 90+2 minute, keeping Selangor’s hopes alive ahead of the second leg at Stadium Negeri, Sarawak.
Selangor FC Head Coach Kim Pan-gon expressed his pride in the players’ effort, while emphasising the need for continued improvement.
“Overall, it was a high-pressure match. We started well and controlled the game as planned. We also came close to scoring, but an offside situation denied us in the first half. Nevertheless, I am proud of the players. We are building a strong team identity, but we must remain hungry for performances at an international level. My role is to plan, coach and support the players. There is still much to improve, and we will continue working towards that,” he said.
Selangor FC will host Sabah FC at MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya on 11 April in the Malaysia Super League, with kick-off scheduled for 9pm. Your support at the Red Giants’ fortress is crucial. Get your tickets here and come support the team.
